Active
for Life Learning Network
The Active for Life National
Program Office is exploring the feasibility of providing
an interactive Learning Network through which health, research,
wellness and public health professionals can address issues,
contribute to the development of programs and share information
related to science-based information and initiatives on
aging, physical activity and nutrition.
Five concepts are being developed
as part of the initial planning phase of this initiative.
- Forums leaders, experts and stakeholders
to gain their insights and exchange ideas regarding topics
related to aging, physical activity and nutrition
- Supporting collaboration and dialog
between health, government and trade organizations that
address physical activity and aging issues
- Identifying and evaluating tools
that can be used by community-based organizations who
wish to implement physical activity programs targeted
to mature audiences
- Conducting an environmental scan
to determine the viability of developing a ListServ and/or
Web-based discussion group related to physical activity/aging/nutrition
issues
- Conducting a needs assessment
to determine what types of technical assistance might
be most useful for professionals and organizations interested
in implementing and/or sustaining programs related to
physical activity and/or nutrition targeted to a mid-life
and older population.
